MeyCom can trace its origins directly back to 1973.
1973
John Meyer joined Rediffusion, the UK owned Cable TV Company in Cape Town having completed his technical training at Telkom.
During his tenure with the company until 1985, John gained experience in the various aspects of the company including, design and costing of TV, Audio and CCTV Systems, installation, project management and commissioning, sales and marketing.
This was the time of the Global Recession caused by the oil crisis in 1975, the resulting tough business conditions, massive retrenchments and bad debts through company failures.
During this time John completed his B.Comm degree through UNISA.
1985
In 1985, John resigned from Rediffusion which by this time was a wholly owned Barlow Rand Company, to start his own business Ambertron with Eric Shaw the Technical Manager of Rediffusion.
Two days after Ambertron commenced trading, PW Botha made his infamous Rubicon speech and the world slammed the country with punitve sanctions.
John and Eric quickly learnt about the realities of running a start-up company when you are under capitalised and lack of
cash flow when there were very few sales to be made.
Amongst the valuable hands-on lessons they learnt is, always save for the rainy day it is sure to come.
Anton Cupido and Colin Bruce joined Ambertron and are still with Meycom today.
1988
Teljoy Holdings Ltd formed a new company Teljoy Business Services in 1988 and acquired Ambertron to look after their Cape Town interests.
John was appointed the Operational Director for the Cape & Natal.
At this time Teljoy acquired M-Net Cable & Satellite. Andrew Briton was employed by MNet Cable & Satellite.
John and Andrew formed a very good working relationship from the start, which has now lasted over 20 years.
1992
Teljoy Holdings main board decided to close Teljoy Business Service in 1992; this effectively gave John his company back with no restraint of trade,
acquiring the operating assets of Teljoy Business Services in Cape Town at a bargain price.
1992
John formed a company Meyer-Sage, three years later he sold his interests in Meyer-Sage and formed his own company MeyCom.
1995
Andrew Briton, Anton Cupido and Colin Bruce joined MeyCom.
1997
MeyCom completed its first R1M contract at Cavendish Square.
The company has since gone on to complete its largest contract so far at the V&A Residential Development for R16M.
1998
Andrew Briton became a Member of MeyCom.
2000
In 2000 Roshen Kajie spent 6 weeks working for the company as a student engineer from UCT.
During this short time John and Andrew quickly developed a great rapport with Roshen.
2003
Roshen joined the company after completing his BSc.Electrical Engineering at UCT.
2004
The company obtained its ISO2001 9000 certification.
2008
Roshen Kajie became a Member of MeyCom.

The company is now 16 years old and employs 40 people.
Our plans are to expand our service division in Gauteng to a full branch in the near future.
We look forward to growing the company both in SA and into Africa.
We are using ISO to help us to achieve these goals, and can only recommend to other companies to implement this really useful business tool.
We are heading for four decades of experience.
Collectively the three directors of the company have 70 years of experience in this industry, between them.
